Event Demo (Open-Box), used. One of five Janome HD9QC Professional machines that students sewed on during a single two-day bag-making class at the ThreadWorks event center. Each was out of its box for less than 72 hours, then repacked in its original Janome carton. They are like-new in appearance after this brief classroom use, but we sell them accurately as used open-box units, not new.
About the photos: The gallery shows Janome's official reference photography of the HD9QC Professional. These are not photos of the classroom machines. Photos of the actual units, including any cosmetic marks, are added after each machine is inspected.
The class these machines came from
Chris Murphy of Simply Classic taught a two-day bag-making class at our event center using five HD9QCs alongside our Continental M8, HD9 V3 and HD8 machines. We unboxed and set up each machine, students sewed bag panels, straps and layered seams on it for the two class days, and we repacked it. Unboxing to repacking, including setup and overnight time, took less than 72 hours. That class is the machine's only use.

Your savings: Janome lists the new HD9QC Professional at $2,699 on janome.com. At $1,999, this classroom machine is $700 (26%) below that new-machine list price. It is a separate, used offer; new HD9QC machines are unaffected.
Choose the HD9QC if you quilt
The HD9QC is the quilter's version of Janome's high-speed straight-stitch machines. It sews faster than the HD9 V3 and HD8 from this class (1,650 vs 1,600 stitches per minute), adds a floating function and feed dog drop for free-motion work, and comes with a free-motion frame quilting feet set. If your projects are quilts first and bags second, this is the straight-stitch machine to pick.
-
Speed with control. Up to 1,650 stitches per minute, a speed control slider and a highly responsive, extra-large foot control.
-
Pressure for thick layers. Up to 11 lb of presser-foot pressure, adjusted by dial with an indicator, plus extra-high presser-foot lift.
-
Industrial-style hook and threading. Vertical full-rotary industrial hook bobbin, industrial pretension threading and vertical two-spool thread delivery.
-
Fewer bobbin changes. The jumbo bobbin holds 40% more thread than a standard bobbin; an independent winding motor fills the next one while you sew.
-
Free-motion ready. Floating function, feed dog drop, darning foot and plate, and free-motion frame quilting feet.
-
Quiet, clean finishing. Automatic thread cutter with noise reduction; remote thread cutter socket.
-
Light where you need it. Openable face cover with LED dimming control.
Know before you buy: the HD9QC sews straight stitch only. There is no zigzag, decorative stitching or buttonhole. For those, see the Continental M8.
