Event Demo (Open-Box), used. One of five Janome HD9 V3 Professional machines that students sewed on during a single two-day bag-making class at the ThreadWorks event center. Each was out of its box for less than 72 hours, then repacked in its original Janome carton. They are like-new in appearance after this brief classroom use, but we sell them accurately as used open-box units, not new.

About the photos: The gallery shows Janome's official reference photography of the HD9 V3 Professional. These are not photos of the classroom machines. Photos of the actual units, including any cosmetic marks, are added after each machine is inspected.

The class these machines came from

Chris Murphy of Simply Classic taught a two-day bag-making class at our event center using five HD9 V3s alongside our Continental M8, HD9QC and HD8 machines. We unboxed and set up each machine, students sewed straps, gussets and layered bag seams on it for the two class days, and we repacked it. Unboxing to repacking, including setup and overnight time, took less than 72 hours. That class is the machine's only use.

Choose the HD9 V3 for construction seams

The HD9 V3 is Janome's current HD9: a high-speed, straight-stitch-only machine with a vertical full-rotary industrial hook, up to 11 lb of presser-foot pressure and, as Janome notes, eight ball bearings for smooth, stable running. Among the machines from this class it sits between the HD8 and the quilting-focused HD9QC, and suits bag makers, garment construction and quilt piecing.

  • Built for long runs. Up to 1,600 stitches per minute with eight ball bearings, a speed control slider and a highly responsive foot control.
  • Industrial-style hook. Vertical full-rotary industrial hook bobbin (1.4x) with industrial pretension threading and vertical two-spool thread delivery. Manual tension gives control across thread weights.
  • Pressure for thick seams. Up to 11 lb of presser-foot pressure, adjusted by dial with an indicator; extra-high presser-foot lift for stacked layers.
  • Hands on the work. Adjustable knee lift, memorized needle up/down, easy reverse lever and automatic thread cutter, with a socket for a remote thread cutter.
  • Uses industrial needles. HLx5 needle system, built-in needle threader and an independent bobbin winding motor.

Know before you buy: the HD9 V3 sews straight stitch only. There is no zigzag, decorative stitching or buttonhole.

Questions

Is this the same HD9 as the new HD9 V2 you sell?
No. These are the third-generation HD9 V3. The V2 we sell new is an earlier generation with a side-loading full rotary hook and an 8" x 5.5" workspace. The V3 uses a vertical full-rotary industrial hook and has a 9" x 5.5" workspace.

HD9 V3 or HD8?
Janome's published specifications for the two are close: 1,600 stitches per minute, 11 lb of foot pressure, the same industrial hook and workspace. Janome highlights eight ball bearings on the HD9 and lists it at a higher price. Choose the HD8 for the lowest price, the HD9 V3 for Janome's Professional-series build.

Is it new?
No. It was unboxed and sewn on during one two-day class, then repacked. We sell it as used.

Does it include a warranty?
Yes. The full Janome manufacturer warranty is included. These machines have not been registered to a retail owner, and warranty documentation is supplied with the machine.

Will I receive a machine like the one in the photos?
We show photographs of the actual classroom machines and disclose any cosmetic marks before they are offered for sale.

Can I talk to someone before I buy?
Yes. Call (480) 545-0778, Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 Arizona time.
