Juki MO-654DE 2/3/4-Thread Serger with Differential Feed & Rolled Hem

The Juki MO-654DE is JUKI's 2/3/4-thread overlocker, sewing up to 1,500 stitches per minute with a 0.7–2.0 differential feed and a rolled hem you set with a dial instead of changing the needle plate. It's a first serger for garment sewists who want clean knit seams and finished edges, and it takes ordinary household HAx1 needles.

What needles does the MO-654DE use?

JUKI specifies ordinary household HAx1 (130/705H) needles in sizes #11–#14, not ELx705 serger needles.

How do I switch to a rolled hem?

Per JUKI's manual, turn the overlocking-width knob to the red mark in front of the throat plate, adjust the lower knife and remove the left needle. You do not change the needle plate.

Can it sew 2-thread stitches?

Yes. It is a 2/3/4-thread machine, and the 2/3 thread converter needed for 2-thread work comes in the box.

Does it have a free arm?

JUKI does not list one for the MO-654DE. If you sew many cuffs and sleeves, look at the Juki MO-80CB.
