Protect your workspace and elevate your cutting precision with the Creative Grids® 12" x 18" Self-Healing Double-Sided Rotary Cutting Mat (CGRMAT1218). Engineered for maximum durability and ultimate accuracy, this professional-grade mat is a vital foundation for any serious sewing or quilting studio. Featuring a robust self-healing surface that instantly recovers from rotary blade incisions, this innovative mat is designed to stay perfectly smooth over years of constant use while maintaining the sharpness of your cutting tools.
Premium Self-Healing Material: Advanced multi-layer surface construction quickly closes and heals razor-sharp cuts, preventing your rotary blade from catching or skipping in old grooves.
Double-Sided Versatility: Features a fully gridded workspace on both sides, effectively doubling the operational lifespan of the mat.
Creative Grids Compatibility: Explicitly color-matched and calibrated to align flawlessly with the iconic black and white markings of Creative Grids rulers for multi-angle cutting harmony.
High-Contrast Grid Lines: Crisp, ultra-clear measurement lines provide non-glare visibility on both sides, ensuring clean layouts under varying studio lighting conditions.
Multi-Angle Cutting Guides: Packed with precise 30-degree, 45-degree, and 60-degree angle lines on both sides to take the guesswork out of cutting biases, diamonds, and triangles.
Blade-Friendly Resiliency: The specialized surface density reduces blade friction and impact stress, keeping your rotary cutter blades sharp significantly longer.
Standard cutting mats are notorious for warping, drying out, or leaving permanent deep gouges that throw off your cutting line on the next project. Fabric crafters love the CGRMAT1218 because it offers a highly resilient, professional-grade surface that stays perfectly flat. The double-sided layout allows you to flip the mat to fresh grids for different cutting tasks, spreading out wear and tear. Its smooth, non-glare surface guarantees total stability, giving you the confidence to make long, fast, and completely unhindered cuts every single time.
Mobile and Desktop Crafters: The ideal mid-sized footprint for small sewing spaces, classroom travel, retreats, or placement directly next to your sewing machine for quick trims.
Quilters and Patchwork Artists: Perfect for squaring up block units, sub-cutting fabric strips, and working with complex multi-angle templates.
Everyday Garment Sewists: Excellent for stabilizing delicate apparel fabrics, knits, or wovens while slicing clean patterns with a rotary cutter.

Is this cutting mat flexible enough to roll up for storage? No, to ensure optimal long-term durability and flat performance, self-healing mats should always be stored perfectly flat. Rolling or folding the mat can compromise the internal structural core and permanently distort the flat cutting surface.
How do you remove stubborn fabric lint from the self-healing grooves? Over time, tiny fabric fibers can become trapped inside the self-healing lines. You can easily clean the surface by wiping the mat down with a damp cloth or using a soft pink eraser to gently sweep the fibers out of the grid lines.
Can I use an iron on top of this mat? No. Excessive heat will warp the composite polymer layers permanently. Always keep your hot iron away from the surface and use a designated ironing pad or pressing board for pressing tasks.
