Brother CV3550 Double-Sided Cover Stitch Machine

Elevate your garment construction with the Brother CV3550 Double-Sided Cover Stitch Machine. Engineered for both highly technical professionals and passionate home sewists, this specialized machine delivers industrial-grade, heavy-duty cover stitches on all varieties of fabric. Whether you are working with delicate lightweight knits or dense, high-stretch athletic textiles, the CV3550 creates immaculate hems, durable chain stitching, and decorative topstitching with effortless precision.

Key Features

• Advanced Double-Sided Tri-Cover Stitch: Create professional-grade, durable double-sided cover stitches that offer incredible elasticity and structural integrity for activewear and dancewear.

• Generous 6.1" x 3.9" Workspace: The expansive workspace gives your fabric room to move freely, reducing bunched material and allowing for smooth handling around curves and bulky seams.

• Versatile 7-Stitch Library: Equipped with a wide array of utility and decorative stitches, including triple top cover, wide cover, narrow cover, and classic chain stitching.

• Color-Coded Lay-In Threading System: Take the guesswork out of setup. Simple, color-coded paths alongside an easy looper threading mechanism make transitions efficient.

• One-Touch Lever Tension Release: Raise the presser foot to automatically release thread tension, allowing you to slide your completed projects out safely without bending needles or warping fabric.

• Adjustable Differential Feed: Achieve perfectly flat, uniform results across highly elastic knits or thin materials, eliminating wavy edges or puckered seams.

• Bright LED Work Light: A cool, focused LED array illuminates your immediate stitching zone, minimizing eye strain during long production runs.

Why It Stands Out

The Brother CV3550 bridges the gap between home crafting and professional apparel manufacturing. Unlike basic coverstitch setups that struggle with skipped stitches over thick side seams, this machine maintains steady needle penetration and balanced tension across variable material thicknesses. It also has a stable, low-vibration metal frame and a double-sided stitch, which eliminates the need to manually flip garments to finish raw edges clean.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between a standard serger and the Brother CV3550?

A: A serger trims edges and finishes them to prevent fraying. The Brother CV3550 is a dedicated coverstitch machine designed strictly to create professional, stretchy hems and decorative double-sided topstitching without cutting your fabric.

Q: Can this machine use standard sewing machine needles?

A: Yes, the CV3550 uses standard domestic eco-friendly sewing needles (System 130/705H), making finding replacements quick and convenient.

Q: Is it difficult to convert the machine from a single-sided to a double-sided stitch?

A: Not at all. Engaging the double-sided feature uses a built-in top spreader mechanism that aligns easily, letting you transition styles in under a minute.
