Achieve factory-quality hems on all your apparel projects with the Janome 2000CPX Cover Hem Machine. Designed specifically to bridge the gap between home sewing convenience and industrial-grade finishing, this dedicated coverstitch machine is the ultimate tool for activewear, knit garments, and stretchy fabrics. Engineered with Janome’s exclusive Tension Level Control (TLC) and a specialized Seam Tightening System (STS), the 2000CPX effortlessly eliminates fabric puckering and skipped stitches. Complete with an extra-long bed and a highly sought-after free arm configuration, this machine empowers you to construct flawless, highly durable garments at professional speeds.

Key Features

  • Tension Level Control (TLC) System: Simply flip a switch to instantly adjust thread tension for fine, lightweight knits, completely preventing the frustrating puckering common on stretch fabrics.

  • Seam Tightening System (STS): An exclusive Janome innovation that reduces looper thread slack, creating flat, tight, and incredibly sturdy stitches across both woven and knit textiles.

  • 1,000 Stitches Per Minute: Finish edges, hems, and necklines with blistering, commercial-level speed without sacrificing stitch precision or motor stability.

  • Unique Free Arm Capability: A rare and highly valuable feature on coverstitch machines, the free arm allows you to easily slide tubular garment sections like cuffs, pant legs, and sleeves directly under the needle.

  • 1, 2, or 3-Needle Configurations: Easily switch between a wide 6mm triple-needle cover hem, a standard 3mm double-needle hem, or a single-needle straight chain stitch for construction and basting.

  • EZ Looper Threading: Takes the headache out of threading with an accessible, color-coded looper path that gets you ready to sew in minutes.

  • Integrated Color Reference Chart: A full-color stitch guide is printed directly onto the front of the machine, showing you exactly how to thread and adjust settings for perfect stitches without digging out the manual.

  • Extra-Long Sewing Bed: Provides massive workspace clearance to the right of the needle, giving you the room needed to maneuver bulky sweaters, heavy fleece, or large dresses.

Why Customers Love This Machine

  • Flawless Activewear and Knits: If you have ever struggled with wavy hems on yoga pants or t-shirts, the TLC system is a game-changer. It automatically calibrates the tension to keep soft, stretchy fabrics perfectly flat.

  • Sleeves Made Simple: Hemming tiny toddler clothes or tight adult cuffs is notoriously difficult on flat-bed sergers. The 2000CPX's built-in free arm makes sewing small tubular items effortless.

  • No Guesswork Setup: The front-mounted visual quick-reference guide ensures that even if you haven't used the machine in months, you can confidently thread it and dial in the correct tension immediately.

Perfect For

  • Garment Designers & Apparel Makers: Anyone who sews clothing—especially t-shirts, swimwear, leggings, and undergarments—who requires a commercial-grade, stretchable hem.

  • Boutique Owners: Small batch manufacturers who need their finished products to look identically polished to store-bought, professionally manufactured apparel.

  • Advanced Crafters: Sewists looking to complement their standard sewing machine and overlock serger with a dedicated machine built exclusively for premium hemming and chain stitching.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between this machine and a standard serger? A: A serger uses a blade to trim the fabric edge while wrapping it in thread to prevent fraying. The Janome 2000CPX is a coverstitch machine. It does not cut the fabric. Instead, it creates the professional two-line or three-line topstitching you see on the bottom hem of retail t-shirts, while creating a stretchable lattice on the underside.

Q: Can I use standard sewing thread on this machine? A: While you can use standard spools, coverstitch machines perform best using cone thread (like the 4 cones included with your purchase) because the machine sews at 1,000 SPM and uses thread much faster than a standard sewing machine.

Q: Does it have a chain stitch option? A: Yes! By removing two of the needles, you can create a highly durable single-needle chain stitch. This is excellent for basting garments for fittings, as well as constructing high-stress seams on heavy fabrics like denim.
